John Kirkpatrick
John Kirkpatrick has been dancing, singing, and playing his way around the English folk scene since he joined Hammersmith Morris Men in 1959 at the age of twelve. – including spells in Steeleye Span, The Albion Band, Trans Europe Diatonique, in a long term duo with Roy Bailey, Band of Hope, lengthy stints with Richard Thompson’s Band, The Sultans of Squeeze, and Brass Monkey.

John Ward Trio
John performs in folk clubs, festivals and theatres across the UK and beyond, mainly with wife, Lynne, and band mate, Les Woodley, as the imaginatively titled John Ward Trio! This line-up delivers powerful 3-part harmonies, with acoustic guitar, bodhran, harmonica, double bass, mandolin, accordion and recorder to bring a fuller sound to John's excellent songs. The Trio also draws on its wider repertoire of traditional and contemporary folk tunes and songs, many of them suited to communal singing. The Trio’s performances are authentic and heartfelt, engaging audiences with their choice of material, thoughtful arrangements, versatility and humour, not to mention John’s blistering bodhran solos, which all blend to delight and entertain folk audiences in intimate venues and bigger stages alike. £8 members, £10 members

Christina Alden & Alex Patterson are multi-instrumentalists and songwriters from East Anglia. Steve Turner
Steve Turner is known as a pioneer of highly sophisticated English concertina song accompaniments, stretching the boundaries of traditional forms, with one of the best voices in the business. He is a multi-instrumentalist, who also accompanies himself on the cittern, and also plays mandolin and tenor banjo

The Medlars
Originally formed in 2009 The Medlars are folk trio from Essex, performing songs and tunes originated and rooted in the folk tradition, revisiting and creating new arrangements of classic English folk songs with a contemporary feel. Its current line up formed from a chance encounter at Folk East 2017, The Medlars are now Alie Barnes - vocals, Emma Hardy - fiddle/vocals, Tom Hardy guitar/vocals.

Vicki Swan & Jonny effortlessly blend traditional material with contemporary sounds. Their performances showcase new interpretations of old songs alongside original self penned tunes and new contemporary songs that are entirely at home in the tradition.
Be entranced by the haunting nyckelharpa, amazed at the cow horn (one of the worlds earliest communication devices) and meet some of the bagpipes that didn’t come from Scotland.

Open night/Jack Forbes - 80th birthday memorial tribute
Dan Forbes presents a tribute to his late father, Jack Forbes, in what would have been his 80th year. There will be performances from many of his friends and former bandmates to remember a local and national folk legend.
Part of the evening will be in the format of an ‘Open Night If you’d like to perform please turn up early and speak to that evening’s MC. Performers normally get a chance to do one or two numbers in front of an attentive and appreciative audience.
Open Night admission is only £2, and free for performers.
